Self-portrait - maybe I shouldn't make pictures until *after* I have my coffee? :)

Fancy! Just as as quick tip, it feels like you should be either a little tighter or a little further back. Right now, it sort of feels like you're clipping your hand and head rather than cropping. What'd you do to get the lighting effects?

Thanks for the advice Josh. I was trying to stay tight on this one but I guess I didn't go tight enough.

There is a TD5 Spiderlite to camera-left and an SB-900 speedlight to camera right.

The general effect is pretty easy to pull off in Lightroom:

1) Set recovery, fill light, contrast, and clarity to 100%
2) Drop the saturation and vibrance
3) Lower some of the settings in step 1 - to taste
4) Bring up the blacks

The image is going to look terrible until step 4

All the best,
reed
